Hiscock for Suzuki?
There : is a good chance New Zealand’s best production rider, Dave Hiscock, will be a member of the Suzuki U.K. road racing team next year.
. Hiscock recently completed a very successful season in Britain, finishing third in the. British Formula One championships. By far the best privateer
racing in Formula One, Hiscock made the management of the Suzuki team look at his riding very carefully when he was consistently beating team riders. He lined up on the grid at Brands Hatch for the final round with 53 points, lying second behind the eventual
champion, Roger Marshall (Suzuki), who had 55 points. Behind on points were the highly-rated Ron Haslam, the veteran, Mick Grant, and the Australian six-hour winner, Wayne Gardner.
Lack of experience at Brands Hatch worked to Hiscock’s disadvantage. He could only manage a fifth and, because Haslam won, Hiscock was pushed down to third place overall. The composition of the Suzuki team next season will not be decided for some months but Hiscock, along with Mick Grant and Keith Huewen, are under consideration.
