Katyn massacre
Sir,—Your correspondent Les Bogren (November 23) asked what is the point of this flood of anti and pro-Soviet correspondence. Perhaps the point is, one has to have a scapegoat for every crime of inhumanity committed against man. Subsequently, many will believe through false propaganda that a crime of such nature could only have been committed by Russian communists. Already rumours have started that the holocaust, the murdering of millions of Jews in Nazi Germany during World War 11, never actually took place; and there are people everywhere who seriouly believe this to be true. No doubt, in time, even this hideous war crime against our fellow man will be attributed to those (dreadful?) Russians and perhaps will be described as a communist , master-minded plot. Regrettably, again there will be those who, perhaps unwittingly, or through gullibility, accept this as fact. —
Yours, etc., J. P. STUART. November 24, 1982.
