N.Z. butter

Sir,—l wonder if there is any truth in the rumour that the greasy variety of New Zealand butter has been developed for “roll on” dispensers for buttering our fragile bread better. The butter we are getting now — we can choose between one brand and margarine — is as yellow as a Buddhist monk’s robes, as greasy as a page of “The Press” used for wrapping fish and ’ chips, and the taste is

consistent with its appearance. But we are assured it is the same as the pale, firm and delicately flavoured product . we had before. This must be true, for Selwyn Toogood is paid to tell us so, over and over again.—Yours, etc., VARIAN J. WILSON. ; November 18, 1982.
