PA Wellington The annual report of the Shipping Corporation was tabled when Parliament sat at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. An agreement on the interpretation and application of some articles of the General Agreement of Tariffs and Trade was also tabled. Members put three notices of motion. Ministers answered 19 questions. The Animals Amendment Act was introduced by the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Mr Maclntyre, and referred to the Lands and Agriculture Select Committee. A private member’s bill sponsored by Mrs Ann Hercus (Lab., Lyttelton), the Investigations into Monopolies Bill, failed to be introduced after a 40-35 division. The Agriculture (Emergency Regulations Confirmation) Bill and the Statutes Amendment Bill passed through committal stages. Second readings/ were given to the Land Transfer Amendment Bill (No. 2), the Real Estate Agents Amendment Bill, and the Architects Amendment Bill. The Customs Acts Amendment Bill passed through its committal stages. Second readings were given to the Insurance Companies Deposits Amendment Bill, the Friendly Societies and Credit Unions Bill, and the Local Legislation Bill. The Domestic Protection Bill was given a second reading before the House' rose at 1 p.m.
