PA Wellington The literary papers of Dame Ngaio ’ Marsh have been bequeathed to the Alexander Turnbull Library in her will.

Dame Ngaio died in Christchurch last February.

“This bequest now makes the Turnbull collection, already very strong on her published work, the ranking

international collection

“Biographers, historians, and critics will find most of the resources necessary for their research at hand in the Turnbull Library,” Mr Traue said;

Dame Ngaio placed some of her manuscripts in the library in 1971. The library has previously sought supporting material on Dame Nagio, such as reviews of her books, photographs, drawings and paintings, manuscripts, and related material on her important contribution to drama in New Zealand. The library would now receive Dame Ngaio’s correspondence and other papers and would make them available to research workers, Mr Traue said.
