Mauger will miss appeal

NZPA London The former world speedway champion; Ivan Mauger, will have to miss next month’s hearing of his appeal against a 12-month racing ban because he will be in Sydney for the world pairs final, he said yesterday. F.1.M., the sport’s governing body, has told him the appeal.. will be heard in Geneva between December H and December 15;. ' “I’m . very disappointed the hearing will be when I’m on the other side of the world,” said Mauger, “but it’s not the end of the world.” Mauger can appear before

the appeal committee himself but can not be represented by his lawyer. He said

he planned to put his case in writing to the committee. If his appeal is turned down he can then go to F.l.M.’s international tribunal where he can be represented by counsel.
