Surprised by review
PA Auckland The artistic director of the modern dance company, Limbs, Mary Jane O’Reilly, has said the group had been “flabbergasted” when members read a South China Morning Post review which labelled their performance at a Hong Kong festival as
“pedestrian.” The company returned to Auckland last week after a five-week Asian tour. The Morning Post review was published in New Zealand, and said Ms O’Reilly: “I was worried -that New Zealand would be disappointed in us — when we felt we
were representing the country well.” • Members had read the Hong Kong review five days later in Japan. “We did basically the same programme we performed in New York last year when the reviews were very discerning, but positive,” she said.
