Akaroa art display
Paintings by two Akaroa artists are on show at the Show Case Gallery for the next two weeks. Faye Hill, who comes from New Plymouth but is now living in Akaroa, is a wellknown painter having exhibited at several one-woman shows in the North Island. She has not exhibited in Christchurch before although some of her paintings have
been displayed in Akaroa, Recently she sent some of her work to Bilbao in Spain for an international graphic art exhibition. The theme for her paintings shown at the Show Case is "The Sea Meets the Coast.” The paintings range from long banners to small frame pictures. By contrast Steve Lowndes' paintings are large
and of-bold, bright colours. Most are scenes of Sydney where he is studying a course in graduate painting. A graduate of the Bath Academy of Art in England, Mr Lowndes has lived near Akaroa for the past three years. Before that he travelled extensively for 10 years throughout Europe teaching art. He has also exhibited his paintings in Akaroa.
