Envoy to Asia

Judith Trotter, New Zealand’s newly appointed High Commissioner to Singapore, who has been visiting Christchurch during a tour of firms with interests in Singapore.

Ms Trotter had been head of the Americas Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the last year. She worked for the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

She has served New Zealand’s consulate-general in Athens, its embassy in Bangkok, and in the permanent delegation to the Organisation of Economic Co-opera-tion and Development in Paris.

During her Christchurch visit Ms Trotter met Professor D. W. Beaven, head of the department of academic medicine at the Christchurch Clinical School, who, after a recent trip .to Singapore, criticised the lack of New Zealand wines there.
