Rear role in reversing shop raid vehicle

A man who sat in the rear of a Mini van, which with the doors open, was reversed into the front window of an electrical shop, reached out afid took electrical goods, valued at $321, said Sergeant E. Dwyer in the District Court yesterday. "David Ross Neal, aged 20. unemployed (Mr C. M. Rpane), told the police that he stole the items to obtain rfioney with which to payrent for his flat and buy food. ".Neal admitted burgling Redwood Electrical Services. Lfd. breaking into Sutherlands Car Court in Victoria Street, and converting a $3OOO Mini van from the premises.

;Sergeant Dwyer said that ai 1.30 a.m. the defendant went to the car court, broke into the office and using a
key from the office unlocked the Mini van and drove off. He picked up an associate around the corner. They drove around for a time and then the associate took over the wheel.
The defendant sat in the back of the van while his associate reversed the vehicle into the window of the electrical firm.
After taking the property the pair drove off but later abandoned the van in Prestons Road after it ran out of petrol. The pair were picked up, in possession of the stolen property, by a police patrol. Neal was convicted on all three charges and remanded on bail to November 8 for a probation report and sentence.
Judge Fogarty directed that Neal be assessed for community service.
