Kangaroo test side
NZPA Leeds Five Kangaroos untried at test level have been called in to face Great Britain in Saturday’s opening test at Hull’s Boothferry Park. And the test-hardened Rod Reddy, a surprise selection for the Kangaroo tour, has also been named in the second row position, chosen, according to the coach, Frank Stanton, because of his consistency and experience. Five members of this
year’s victorious test side against New Zealand have been omitted from the side, which has an average age of 24 compared with Britain’s 28. The five Kangaroos to make their test debuts are the wing, Eric Grothe, the five-eighths, Brett Kenny, the half-back Peter Sterling and the reserve back,. Steve Ella, all from the champion Parramatta club, and Balmain’s Wayne Pearce in the second row.
