University Vacancies University Vacancies RESEARCH ASSISTANT NUCLEAR REACTION TECHNIQUES FOR STUDYING MATERIALS APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED from graduates to undertake Ph.D. studies on the development of. nuclear reaction techniques for depth profiling specific atomic species in host solids. This joint project between the ion-accelerator groups at Victoria University and the Institute of Nuclear Sciences, D.S.I.R:, Gracefield is directed towards the solution of materials problems of relevance to New Zealand industry. The tandem ion-accelerator currently being installed at INS will be used to obtain depth profiles both of the impurity atoms thought to be involved in problems of corrosion in surfaces and of implanted atoms following surface treatment by low energy ion-implantation. This study is funded by a D.S.I.R. contract which provides for a tax free emolument of 5NZ4020 per annum for 3 years together with additional funding to cover tuition fees, equipment and travel , within New Zealand.
