High cost for tarsealing
PA Wellington It would cost more than $1 billion to tarseal all the unsealed roads in the North Island, the Minister of Works and Development, Mr Friedlander, has told Parliament. There were 22,630 kilometres of unsealed road in the North Island, Mr Friedlander said in answer to a question.
The cost of tarsealing those roads would vary depending on their location, but the average cost would be $50,000 a kilometre, the Minister said.
