Mr C.W. White
The chairman of the Central Canterbury Electric Power Board, Mr Colin William White, died in Christchurch on Sunday. Mr White had been on the power board for eight years and had been chairman,for the last two. He was also an executive member of the Power Boards’ Association of New Zealand. A qualified marine engineer, Mr White specialised in refrigeration engineering after the war, which he spent in the Navy. He established
the first branch of J. Wattie Canneries, Ltd. in Christchurch about 12 years ago and was the first manager of the plant. He retired three years ago from the position of South Island manager of Watties. Mr White was a former president of the Canterbury Employers’ Association, a member of the management committee of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation, and a former president of the Hornby Rotary Club.
