$2 billion aid for exports

NZPA Chapin President Reagan has announced a SUSI.S billion (SNZ2 billion) programme to subsidise American agricultural exports to developing countries. On a political campaign tour of the mid-west farm belt. Mr Reagan and his Agriculture Secretary, Mr John Block, referred to a programme of interest-free United States Government loans and Government-guar-anteed loans to countries buying American produce. It was Mr Reagan s second attempt recently to please voters in the politically shaky farm belt, where his Republican Party is trying to avoid a beating in the Congressional and state elections on November 2. Last week he offered the Soviet Union a chance to make more purchases from overflowing American grain stocks.
