Ashburton and Christchurch Suburban will attempt to play their 60-over cricket match today, as the annual fixture was rained out at the Ashburton Domain Oval yesterday. Play was scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. but the match was officially abandoned at 1 p.m. Ashburton had won the toss and was prepared to bat on a wicket that had not been covered but had suffered surprisingly little from the overnight rain) Heavy showers for much of yesterday may have put the match in doubt even if the weather clears.
