Alcohol sale opposed
PA Dunedin The Plunket Society has decided that alcohol should not be sold in supermarkets. The South Christchurch branch said in a remit that to allow supermarket sales would encourage spending money on alcohol rather than on food. A branch delegate said that there were 18.000 licensed alcohol outlets in New Zealand. The addition of supermarkets would only increase New Zealand’s main social and health nroblem.
