Consumption of milk down
Consumption of liquid milk has fallen 13.5 per cent in the last seven years, and its price has risen 375 per cent. According to the annual report of the Milk Board, the fall in sales has been steady over that period, about 2 per cent a year. Total town sales of 422,633,892 litres in 1975 had fallen to 365,885,592 litres by 1981, in the year ending August 31. In the meantime, prices had risen from 8c per 600 ml bottle at February 1, 1976, to 30c by June 1, 1982.
