Behaviour praised
The behaviour of the New Zealand competitors at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane was warmly praised by the general manager of the party, Mr Bruce Ullrich, of Christchurch, yesterday: He described as “outstanding” the manner in which the Kiwis had conducted themselves. “There was not one incident to mar our stay," he
said. “We set good standards, and the response was most pleasing.” And Mr Ullrich was just as proud of his team’s performance, in the arena. Thirtyseven per cent of the competitors, he said, returned with medals, and more than 50 per cent of the party finished fourth or better.
