Abortions clinic
. Sir, — Christchurch abortion figures without doubt indicate a desperate need for an abortion clinic in this city. Perhaps it would be more worth-while to “listen” to the Patients’ Rights Group and their relevant complaints about the over-crowded conditions at Christchurch Women’s Hospital, than to deny problems by labelling concerned people as “molicious.” The stated figure of 955 abortions a Christchurch Women's Hospital, if done elsewhere would relieve the suffering of 955 people on the gynaecological waiting list, and thus allow greater comfort for all. It is unfortunate if our present Minister of Health allows himself to be influenced by the demands of idealistic pressure organisations, rather than study the true needs of the community. — Yours, etc., JOCELYN V. HAY. October 14, 1982.
