Most export earnings rural
Parliamentary reporter More than 80 per cent of New Zealand’s total export earnings came from the rural sector, including forestry, the Minister of Agriculture, Mr Matintyre, has told Parliament. In a written reply to a question in the House. Mr Maclntyre said that exports
from the rural sector earned $5486 million, 81 per cent of the total export earnings in the- year to June, 1982. Manufactured goods earned $1202 million, or 18 per cent' of export earnings. Mr Maclntyre said that the income from exports produced in the rural and fores-
try sectors were: meat, $1651 million, 25 per cent of the total; wool, $948 million, 14 per cent; dairy products, $1441 million, 21 per cent; other animal products, $420 million, 6 per cent; other primary products, $413 million. 6 per cent: and forest products, $613 million. 9 per cent.
