Minister used R.N.Z.A.F. plane for ceremony
Parliamentary reporter The Postmaster-General. Mr Talbot, used a Royal New Zealand Air Force plane to travel to Nelson on his way to the cut-over ceremony for the new Collingwood telephone exchange. Mr Talbot told Parliament that he had used the plane
because there were no scheduled services that fitted in with his Ministerial duties. The cost of the flight would come out of the Defence budget. He had been asked by Mr P. T. E. Woollaston (Labour. Nelson) why he did not use one of the 11 commercial daily flights.
