Extensions to camp site
Extensions to the Boys' Brigade camp site at Waipara should be completed in time for celebrations planned early next year to mark the brigade's centenarv.
The improvements include the erection of dining and recreation halls, additions to Tui Lodge in the camping area, and the development of an adventure playground, including a confidence course. The camp site is used by brigade members. now numbering 1200 in North Canterbury, as a venue for camping, outdoor activities, and leadership training courses. The facilities are also imide available to schools and a wide range of
groups and organisations. Additions to the dining and recreation halls are required to cope with the increased use of the camp by schools, community groups, and brigade members. Indoor space is at present limited lotevening activities in bad weather.
The additions to Tin Lodge in the camping area will provide separate facilities for small groups living under canvas.
The Canterbury battalion of the Boys' Brigade is providing the building materials for the work, and the labour is being ■ financed by the Government through a Labour Department contract work scheme.
