NZPA Hong Kong The world-ranked number one, Guo Yuehua (China) recaptured the World Cup by breezing past Sweden's European champion. Mikael Applegren 22-20, 21-5, 21-9 in the final of the $NZ63,000 table tennis tournament in Hong Kong yesterday. China’s world number
three, Xie Saike, came from behind to take the third place by knocking out Hungary’s 1975 world champion. Istvan Jonyer 9-21, 21-16. 2119 before a capacity crowd of 2000 at the MacPherson Stadium. Guo. now aged 26. won the inaugural World Cup two years ago by beating Jonyer in the final.
