Steward lodges appeal
PA Auckland An appeal has been lodged by the Waikato stipendiary steward. Mr George Lawson, against a decision of the Whakatane Racing Club’s judicial committee at its meeting on September 25. The appeal concerns alleged interference by Bound To Honour, which finished second in the Whakatane Cup. to the fifth-placed Smart Devil. The protest against Bound To Honour was dismissed by
the judicial committee. The grounds of the appeal are that the interference by Bound To Honour in the final 100 m denied Smart Devil full opportunity of finishing fourth and the $650 stakemoney. The appeal, which will be held at Te Rapa racecourse on Friday. October 22. will be heard by a sub-committee of the Waikato district committee. comprising Messrs M. A. Mcßreen. L. G. Keyte and J. D. Stewart.
