will riders in this year's New Zealand Formula One Championships. Fellow Aucklanders. Mike Hogan, on a TZ7SO Yamaha, and Glenn Williams, on GPZIIOO Kawasaki production bike, filled the minor placings. Williams headed Timaru's Suzuki rider, Peter Waters, in both open production events but
was beaten by Nigel Ward, of Blenheim riding a Honda, in the up to 600 cc races. The junior classic produced a tense struggle between Yamaha TZ35Os of Neil Smith and Bruce Woodley (Blenheim) and the national champion. Mike Pero (Christchurch), with Smith beating Woodley right on the line for first placing.
