Payment of benefits
Sir,-I am surprised that Mary Batchelor M.P. regards the implementation of paying benefits into bank accounts as a Social Welfare Department "stand-over tactic.” The value of any form of literacy education is obvious. Every woman member of Parliament has a personal responsibility to encourage the less fortunate superannuitants to keep up with the times. Learning how to budget carefully is recognised as being the first step to personal confidence, stable mental health and general well-being. — Yours, etc., THELMA WALLACE. October 7, 1982.
