Smash-and-grab at taxi office
A thief armed with a heavy hammer broke a plate-glass window at the Blue Star taxi office in Moorhouse Avenue last evening and stole a bag of small, change. The station attendant said that he was sitting at the cashier’s desk inside the window about 10 p.m. when the hammer - crashed through. The force .of the impact had damaged the till, he said.
The thief, thought to be a male, reached through the broken window and grabbed ' a bag of small change from , the counter. It contained less than $3O. The thief was wearing a full-face helmet and appeared to be unaccompanied and without a vehicle. He ran off, leaving the hammer behind. The police were called but had not traced the culprit early this morning.
