WAIMAIRI DISTRICT COUNCIL COMMUNITY FUN RUN 1982 The 1972 Waimairi District fun run will take place on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 3, from JELLIE PARK starting at 9 a.m. AGAIN THE FUN RUN is being organised by the Waimairi District Council in co-operation with the Canterbury Region of the Heart Foundation of N.Z. and the Burnside Joggers Club. It is intended to focus on the Fun Run as the community activity to start Heart Week (October 3 to October 9, 1982). In attempting to foster interest in the values of good health and fitness the organisers have decided to make children and young people .central to the activities on the day. To this end schools in and adjacent to the Waimairi District have been INVITED to participate. The Heart Foundation have sponsored the activities to allow schools taking part to raise funds for their schools by participating in $lOO draws. These will be as follows:— Post Primary Schools draw (2) $lOO. Intermediate Schools draw (2) $lOO. Primary Schools draw (2) $lOO. The activities on the day include: The Long Run (10 kilometres). The Short Run (6 kilometres). The Walk (3 kilometres). Members of the Burnside Joggers Club will act as leaders/guides for the long and short runs and Heart Foundation members will act in the same capacity for the walk. Certific ates of achievement will be awarded to all who take part. The programme on the day is as follows:— 8.45 a.m..— Short address by Dr D. R. Hay, C.B.E.
