N.Z. schoolboys win ‘test’
PA Wellington The, New Zealand Secondary Schools rugby XV beat Australia. 12-3. al Fraser Park. Wellington, yesterday in unplesant conditions with a.strong north-westerly wind and rain. New Zealand has now established a 2-1 lead in "tests" .between the two countries. The New Zealand side more than matched its counterpart up front with several forward surges that split the Australian pack allowing the
half-back. Mackie Herewini. ample opportunities to put . his backs into action. The first five-eighths. Api Rangihuna, and wings. Warren Jennings and Timo Tagaloa, showed plenty of enterprise and dash. New Zealand scored six points in the first half when Rangihuna kicked penalties in the third and sixth minutes. Phillip Young replied with a fifteenth-minute penalty to narrow the gap to three
points at the interval, with he home side having the advantage of the wind in the second half. It took only nine minutes of the second half for New Zealand to kill any chance of the Australians achieving victory. Herewini crashed over after a serious of attacks on the Australian line, with Rangihuna’s conversion giving the home side a ninepoint advantage from which Australia never recovered.
