A three-bedroomed weatherboard house on a 27 perch section and a vacant setion adjoining at Scarborough Terrace in Hamner Springs were auctioned under separate titles on September. 16. Both were passed in. Together they had a GV (1980) of $34,000. The section with the house, which contains two bathrooms and two kitchens and features a partly self-contained and tenanted flat, fetched a bid of $42,000. A private sale is being negotiated. The second lot. a 53 perch section. L-shaped and sheltered by trees, was sold immediately after the auction for $13,000 after being passed in for $12,500.
The auctioneer was Mr W. Anderson, of George Anderson, Smiths City Market. An historic colonial cottage containing a craft shop and pottery kilns at Woodend was passed in at auction on September. 17 for $79,000. The two-storeyed, four bedroomed house together with a large section has a GV (1978) of $32,000. It is more than 100 years old and has had only two previous owners. The house has been renovated inside but the exterior design is unaltered. It was auctioned by Mr N. Gillman. of Gillman Real Estate. Ltd. who said that the auction attracted "quite a few people" but that private sale negotiations had not been entered.
