Auckland humbles North Auckland
PA Auckland A vastly inferior North Auckland rugby side was humbed 21-3 by Auckland on Saturday in a national championship first division match at Eden Park. With the amount of possession Auckland won. it could have been expected to win by 30 points. However, a low standard of football ruined the game as a spectacle. Auckland’s forwards dominated the opposition, with the two All Black locks.
Andy Haden and Garry Whetton. in commanding form. Auckland was also on top in second phase play, sweeping rucks and mauls 15-6. But. as so many times-this year. Auckland's back-line took 100 long to turn its superiority into points. Scorers.— Auckland 21 (Allan Whetton 2. Grant Fox. Garry Whetton tries. Fox penalty, conversion): North Auckland 3 (G.
