‘Triangle’ file re-examined

NZPA Paris The French police are reexamining the dossier of a New Zealander, Yvonne Crosby, aged 25, and her daughter, Linda, aged six, who were slain in September, 1979, in a “murder triangle" where there have since been four more unsolved killings. The Crosby file has remained open because the. case was never solved, and two murders last week in the “triangle" in the. central French region might throw fresh light on the whole affair. All six murders have certain similarities — the victims have all been young hitch-hikers and have all been brutally shot in the head, like the Crosbys. and their identity documents such as passports were all burned on the spot by the murderer. ■

The triangle extends from Lons-Les-Saunier in the south to Besancon. 110 km to the north, and Dole, about 40km to the north-west. Two bodies were found in the triangle within the last week, victims of the same murderer but in separate incidents. The police have since named them as students, Christopher Breton and Christian Klein, both aged 19, from Nice, southern’France, who were both hitch-hiking, but not together The previous murder victims were both girls. They were a German. Andrea Kowe. aged 20. whose body, was found in August. 1982. and a Finn. Kaija-Helena Koivvaja. aged 25, found dead tour months earlier. The police believe that there is a denominator which links all six murders and will point to one murderer.
