Hangings in Tonga
PA Wellington Three men were hanged in Tonga yesterday, after being convicted of the murder of a Tongan villager. They were hanged at 8 a.m. Tongan time outside the local jail on Tongatapu. the main island, NZPA was told by official sources in Nukualofa. The Secretary to the Privy Council (the effective Cabinet), Mr Maketi Tongilava. said a full report’ of the hangings would be available from the Prime Minister's office at 9.30 a.m. today.
