Crosby third in motor cycle race
NZPA San Marino The American. Freddie Spencer, led from start to finish to win the 500 c.c. event at a trouble-torn San Marino motor-cycle grand prix. New Zealand's Graeme Crosby was third. In the 250 c.c race, the Venezuelan, Carlos Lavado, suffered multiple leg fractures after crashing and doctors might not be able to save his foot, medical sources said. Italy's Loris Reggiani pulled out on the seventh lap of the 500 c.c. event when he collapsed with sunstroke as the temperature reached 42 degress Centigrade on the track. Spencer took his Honda to the front from the start and finished well ahead of compatriot, Randy Mamola, on a Suzuki, and Crosby, on a Yamaha.
