South African policy
Sir,—Readers of the provincial newspapers L. J. Stevens used to edit must be very grateful he is no longer -in a position regularly to inflict his reactionary views on them. His charge that HART is really concerned with South Africa's mineral’ wealth, and not the plight of the blacks is a very old and stale red herring used as a defensive argument, when all else fails. The. tragedy in the Horn of Africa and Somalia has been' caused by prolonged drought and not “Russianbacked Cuban troops” as L. J. Stevens alleges. Whatever evil powers he imagines HART exercises it cannot control the weather. — Yours, etc., M. T. MOORE. September 7, 1982.
