Display raises $2700

A two-week doll exhibition to raise money for the Save the Children Fund was a great success, says its organiser, Mrs Nola Bartram. The exhibition, which ended on Sunday, raised more than $2700 for the fund. The money will be sent to help children in Lebanon. Several thousand people visited the display of 600 national and celebrity dolls, displayed in the Building Centre.

Kendal Primary School won the book prize for the best dressed doll in school uniform. More than $5OO was raised in the cent-a-vote competition, and school pupils added money raised at their schools to the total. The Save the Children Fund also received half the money from the sale of dolls in national costume. “The dolls were sold out within the first few days,” said Mrs Bartram.
