Nuclear war
Sir,-Larry Ross (August 27) pinpoints the tendency of mankind to fasten on scapegoats to carry the guilt for all crimes. No nation or people was innocent of atrocities in the last war. No-one is innocent today who stands by and allows the build-up of nuclear weaponry
to continue. A nuclear war will not be the finale in the series “to end all wars” but an end to the world itself. Mankind has wonderful powers of creativity; if we can call these into force we can give our children back their birthright — hope for a future.—Yours, etc., JILL WILCOX. August 27. 1982.
