Civil defence school
A new national Civil Defence school is expected, to open at Marton in April next year.
Training at the school will be primarily for people appointed as controllers of civil defence and other volunteers in key positions. It is also expected to assist people in government departments that fill important roles in dealing with disasters. Courses will cover all aspects of Civil Defence, from its concept and legal basis, to the techniques of disaster control and management.
More than 20 courses will be held each year, catering for up to 50 live-in students.
