Wrong sea
The clue to 5 down in yesterday’s crossword would have been all Greek to some .solvers. Those who resorted to an atlas to find the answer would have scoured the Aegean Sea in vain for the “classical island” required. Samothrace (an anagram of “Homer acts” about “a”) was the island. Unfortunately for the English compiler of the syndicated crossword, Samothrace is .in the lonian Sea, off the coast of Corfu 'To place; it in the Aegean, as the compiler did, would require a shift of about 350 kilometres.
