Shipping news Dry dock keeps busy
Lyttelton's dry dock is' really paying its way this year. In the last two' months it has been particularly busy, with vessels arriving for their scheduled annual surveys or calling for repairs after mishaps. Five vessels have used the dock since May and another ship, the Russian joint-venture trawler Dolomite, is scheduled to go in for a survey on July 26. The first of the run of vessels to use the dock recently was another Russian fishing vessel, the Zhemchuzny. She was in dock for a survey for four days in the middle of May. .' 1 She was followed In June by the cement carrier Westport and then the Chathams trader Holmdale. Both of these vessels were in for tjieir annual surveys. The Stewart Island ferry Waiyua. which sailed south on Saturday, arrived for her annual survey early in July. At present the Islands trader Vili is in dock for repairs to a damaged propeller.'She has had bad luck since she came into port on June 19. She has had to move out of dock several times because other vessels, which had booked facilities there, had priority over her.
