Arthritics’ art on display
An exhibition of local entries and the main winners of the Arthritis Foundation’s national art exhibition are on display in Christchurch this week. The display at the Canterbury Building Centre includes the top 10 entries from the national arthritis exhibition, and 28. entries from Canterbury, which includes Nelson, Westport and South Canterbury. All the paintings were done by people suffering from arthritis. The object of
the exhibition is to encourage arthritis sufferers to take up painting which doctors say is beneficial because when people become engrossed in painting they forget the pain in their muscles and joints for a few hours. The top 10 paintings from the national exhibition are touring New Zealand and will go on display with works by local artists at each centre. The paintings have already been shown in Wellington and Dunedin.
