General Forecast: A small weakening anticyclone lies to the north of New Zealand and is moving east-north-east and an intense anticyclone lies to the west of Tasmania; a west to south-west airstream covers New Zealand and a cold front lying to the south of the South Island and moving quickly north-east should have passed over much of the South Island this morning. A change to cold showery south-westerlies with some snow to quite low levels. District Forecasts: Canterbury: Fresh cold south-westerlies with wintery showers and some snow down to low levels.
Marlborough: Strong cold showery south-westerlies ■ developing. Nelson: Cool south-westerlies fresh at times; scattered/ showers mostly about the ranges but mainly fineelsewhere.
