Donation of $7500
PA ’ Wellington The Y.W.C.A. of New Zealand has donated $7500 towards a vocational schools project in Lebanon, because of its deep concern about the long-term effects of the war there, said the national development officer of the Y.W.C.A.. Ms Jessica Holden. This would be subsidised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a 1-1 grant, under the Voluntary Agency Support Scheme. The project would offer a
wide variety of vocational training to young women, aged 16 to 20, who had no opportunity for employment, and who could not afford other training, said Ms Holden. “It is our hope that a peaceful solution for Lebanon is found soon so that the Lebanese people can live without the threat of invasion by foreign armies, and can begin the long process of rebuilding their lives," she said.
