Guide to lake park published
A comprehensive guide to Lake Sumner Forest Park has been published. About 10,090 copies of a Forest Service map have been printed. The map has been several years in. the making. ' The Conservator of Forests in Christchurch (Mr J. W. Levy) said that the guide might encourage more visitors but it was really aimed at the many trampers and sportsmen who already used the 100.544 ha park between Lewis Pass and Arthur’s Pass National Park. “Its main objective is to tell people what there is and how to find it,” he said. Details listed include park history, flora and fauna, hunting and fishing opportunities, tramping routes, and hut locations. Maps are available at $2 each from the service’s Christchurch office although the bulk of copies has not yet arrived.
