Ban on Argentina
Sir,—Now that the unfinished Falklands epic is to be left, in abeyance for an unspecified period the Government should lift the trade ban against Argentina, imposed by Mr Muldoon, on behalf bf his friends in Britain who are obliged to continue this costly excercise indefinitely. Furthermore the leader of the Federation of Labour, Mr Knox, should stop playing for time in his efforts to lift the trade ban against Chile, an unwise move which has been to the detriment of this country and harmful to the F.O.L. image. The fact that this particular ban was ordered by the Communist inspired world trade union movement does nothing for Mr Knox's credibility and he should now concentrate his efforts on the home front where the average New Zealander is getting a raw deal from an inept and short sighted Caucus administration.—Yours, etc.. L, WESTNEY. July 5, 1982.
