Wolfenden injured
PA Auckland Peter Wolfenden will be away from driving for about two months following a heavy fall at the start of the N.Z. Juvenile Championship at Alexandra Park on Saturday evening. Bones in his left foot were dislocated and an operation was required at Middlemore Hospital early Sunday morning to reset them. His wife. Lois, said she had been told at the hospital that it would take up to eight weeks for the injury to heal. Wolfenden had brought his total of winning drives for the season to 95 when he won the first race on Saturday’s
programme with Momba Lady. He had high hopes of reaching 100 for the second time. Wolfenden had 101 wins in the 1974-75 season. No other driver has scored a century in one season in New Zealand. Wolfenden drove Dundee Chief in the Juvenile Championship. As the mobile barrier pulled away, Credit Line (Barry Purdon) stumbled and fell. Mighty Me locked sulky wheels with Credit Line and dislodged his driver. Bob Cameron. Wolfenden' was thrown to the ground when Dundee Chief was unable to avoid Credit Line.
