Kind Nature stylish winner at Blenheim

From G.K. YULE Blenheim Kind Nature followed up placings at his two previous starts on the circuit with a fine win in the Vasey Handicap on the final day of the Marlborough Trotting Club's winter meeting yesterday. He settled five or six paces off the pace and Gavin Hampton waited with him until near the home turn. He then improved fairly wide out and ran on gamely to win by two lengths in' the fast time of 3min 31s for the. 2700 m. Raced in partnership by his Templeton trainer, Jim Curragh. and his sister-in-law. Miss E. L. Redmond, of Christchurch Kind Nature has caused his trainer many

problems since he was promoted to first at Rangiora in March. However, he seems to be right back to the promising form he showed last season. He will compete at the two Addington meetings next month and then probably be prepared for the National meeting. Nighlania battled away gamely for second, ahead of Likely Lord which broke after about 100 m following a slow start. "He just couldn't go early, but put plenty of dash into his effort later." said his driver. Robin Butt. DrewHanover had his chance and was only half a neck back, fourth, followed by Espiritu and Lord Thorpe. Lord Thorpe almost went down on his nose near the

2000 m after striking a sulkyin front of - him. Stortford Lodge and Espiritu were checked in the incident. Double Bill advanced from a maiden to C 3 class from the start of the Nelson meeting as a result of his success inthe Mcßae's Fashion Handicap. Both of his wins at the Blenheim meeting were achieved with a minimum of effort. Yesterday he had only a short neck to spare over the pacemaker. Morgan James, but he was not really tested. A three-year-old by Bye Bye Bill, Double Bill raced in the open for almost the whole race and Michael De Filippi did not ask him for a serious effort over the final 50m. at which stage he had a short advantage over Morgan

James. Local Patron and his stablemate. Siesta, had a neck between them for third and fourth, but they were a length and a half from Morgan James. Then came Don Regal and Royal Stroll, neither of which had much racing room in the straight. Novander had little trouble justifying favouritism in the E. J. Wilson Memorial. She gathered in the pacemaker. Spangled Pride, not far from the line and won by a long neck. The North Island trotter. Tough Talk, after being late working clear, battled on well to beat Idle Rules byhalf a length for third. Idle Rules did well after breaking early and settling well off the pace.
