Netball courts
Sir,—Some of 'the critics of the Netball Association’s wish to extend the sealed areas of Hagley Park aire strong supporters of the sport. The association should recognise — (1) The parking chaos created on winter Saturdays in the area leading to parking on the grass berms and hazards for pedestrians. (2) The fact that the sport will continue to grow, rendering any extended sealed area too small for the number of players. Within 1.5 km of Sou,th Hagley there are five schools with sealed areas prepared for netball that are idle on week-ends. Their convenience, the easier parking and the saving of capital expense to the association should far outweigh the reorganisation of playing draws. Has the association considered discussing the use of these alternatives with the bodies controlling these playing areas? — Yours, etc., PETER HILL. June 10, 1982.
