Chairman pleased
The opening of the hew indoor cricket centre has been welcomed by the chairman of the ‘Canterbury Cricket Association's management committee, Mr Albie Duckmanton-. "The indoor cricket matches will provide entertainment and exercise for cricketers of all ages and capabilities, and the particular demands of the indoor game should encourage the development of valuable skills.” Mr Duckmanton said. "Diversions such as the one offered by this new centre are welcome, because it can be a year-round activity." he said. "Cricketers in Canterbury are very well catered for, with a wide variety of competitions. Apart from the C.C.A.s own competitions — two-day and one-day — we have a knockout competition, a twilight tournament, a six-a-side event, and the indoor competition at the Pioneer Stadium."
